In short: Alcohol-based disinfection (typically 70% isopropyl alcohol or 75% ethanol) acts fast and dries clean, making it the workhorse for routine skin prep and surface wiping. It comes as wipes, swabsticks, chlorhexidine tubes and bulk solution. Alcohol needs the surface to stay wet for the labelled contact time — match format and saturation to the task.

The chemistry, briefly

Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) at around 70% and ethanol at around 75% are fast-acting and residue-free. They are ideal for routine skin antisepsis before injections and for wiping down surfaces and equipment. Adding chlorhexidine to alcohol adds persistence for pre-procedure prep. Because these are alcohol-based, they sit together in our alcohol category.

Contact time and saturation

Alcohol works while it is wet. The surface should stay visibly wet for the labelled contact time, so saturation matters as much as chemistry: a well-charged wipe for larger areas, a swabstick for a hub or small site, and bulk solution where you fill your own format. A wet-plus-dry pairing lets you clean then dry in one pack.

Skin vs surface — and compliance

Skin antiseptics and surface disinfectants can share alcohol chemistry but have different intended uses and regulatory routes. We make single-use disinfection consumables under an ISO 13485 quality system; we do not hold a notified-body CE certificate. Confirm the intended use and destination-market classification for your product before ordering — see our EU MDR guide.

Frequently asked questions

What alcohol concentration do you use?

Typically 70% isopropyl alcohol or 75% ethanol; other concentrations and chlorhexidine-in-alcohol blends can be produced to your specification.

Skin antiseptic or surface disinfectant?

Alcohol chemistry serves both, but intended use and regulatory classification differ. Tell us the application and destination market so we supply the right specification.

How long must the surface stay wet?

Follow the labelled contact time for your formulation; alcohol only works while the surface is visibly wet, so do not wipe it dry prematurely.

Do you supply bulk solution and refills?

Yes — bulk isopropyl alcohol and disinfectant solution are available alongside finished wipes and swabsticks for filling your own formats.
