What a skin barrier film does
The film forms a thin, breathable protective layer over intact or at-risk skin, reducing damage from moisture, adhesive removal and friction. Our barrier swabstick applies it from a hygienic single-use applicator, so a measured dose reaches exactly the peri-wound or peri-stoma area intended and dries quickly.
Why alcohol-based
Conventional barrier films are alcohol-based because they dry fast and bond well, which is why the swabstick sits in our alcohol category. On broken or highly sensitive skin an alcohol-free chemistry is often preferred — tell us the application and we will match the formulation.
Pairing with adhesive management
Barrier film works hand in hand with dressing changes: use an adhesive tape remover to lift tape gently, cleanse with purified-water wipes if needed, then apply the barrier film and let it dry before re-taping so adhesives bond to the film, not to fragile skin.
