The glycerine holds moisture on the tissue; the citric acid and lemon flavour stimulate the palate. Composition and the tip
The solution is water, glycerine, citric acid and lemon flavour, with no alcohol. The tip is lint-free foam or cotton on a rigid applicator — and lint-free is the specification that actually matters, because anything that sheds fibres in a patient's mouth is a problem rather than a product. The rigid stick lets a carer reach the back of the mouth without their fingers entering it.
Lengths, pouches and pack
Three lengths — 70, 100 and 150 mm (2.75, 4 and 6 in) — cover most bedside and clinical use. Pouches hold 1, 2 or 3 swabsticks and boxes hold 50, so a ward can open exactly what it needs.
